TNPSC Group 1 Syllabus – Mains Exam

Paper 1: Tamil Eligibility Test (100 marks)

In this paper, candidates will get descriptive type questions, which test their Tamil language proficiency.

Paper 2: General Studies I (250 marks)

Here, candidates will be asked questions based on modern history of India and culture, social issues in India and Tamilnadu and general aptitude and mental ability. 

Paper 3: General Studies II (250 marks)

In this paper, questions are devised based on Indian polity and emerging political trends, science and technology in development, and Tamilnadu society, culture, & heritage. 

Paper 4: General Studies III (250 marks)

Here, candidates will be asked questions derived from subjects like geography of India, environment, biodiversity, Indian economy and global trends. 

TNPSC Group 1 Syllabus – Interview

The TNPSC Group 1 Interview is the final stage of the recruitment process for various positions in Tamil Nadu. During this round, candidates are assessed on their personality, communication skills, and general awareness. The interview is conducted by a panel of experienced administrators and subject experts. Typical questions cover current affairs, general knowledge, personal background, and behavioural aspects.

TNPSC Group II & II-A

The TNPSC Group 2 and 2A exams are conducted to recruit candidates for middle-level executive and administrative posts. Both exams consist of Preliminary examination (200 objective questions, 300 marks, 3 hours) and Mains exam ( 2 descriptive type papers). TNPSC 2 and 2A syllabus contains prelims and mains, the interview process is included in Group 2 and in Group 2A, it is not. Group 2 candidates also must attend an interview (40 marks), while Group A candidates will be directly selected on the basis of written scores.
